The other day a friend showed me how to make a simple flower that looked really nice so I thought I would put it on my blog as a demonstration
punch out a circle of card stock (mine is 1½") you could use double side patterned paper too
begin to cut into a spiral leaving a centre circle (this will later have a glue dot)
Using either a quilling tool or a pair of tweezers wind the spiral up
release it and let it spring open a wee bit then place a glue dot on the centre circle pushing the flower down onto it.
ink the edges
put a spot of glossy accent in the middle
place a pearl or gem in the centre
I am using a little blob of blue tack on the end of an old ball point pen
The idea for the tool to pick up gems came from a real tool I saw my friend using and it looked rather like a bit of blue tak in a pen hence my innovation.
thanks for looking hope this will inspire you.
why not head over to Shimelle's place for more 10 on the 10th

Super idea for a 10th list Mary and a great little tutorial!
Lovely tutorial....beautiful flower.
I love making these little roses, but I never thought of putting a gem/bead in the middle. Very clever, very pretty!
And I love your home-made sticky thing for holding the beads - it's expensive to buy the special ones - not worth it!
Thanks for sharing! I had made flowers like this before, but the tutorial I saw didn't have the circle reserved in the centre and I think that is better as mine are now unwinding :(
Lovely tutorial - I keep meaning to have a go at making these.
Such a great idea for 10 on 10. Your flower is so pretty.
Thanks for a very informative 10 photos. I might give it a try.
