Had a little break from scrapping my grandsons as this weeks SLYMI challenge was to scrap yourself right now so that is what I did with a photo I too Yesterday using the tripod and self timer, took 9 attempts to get a photo I was willing to use though, still all good fun.
Also been over to my Son & Daughter in Law's place for a bit of baby worshipping with my little grandson. Here is the best of the photos I took of him today
This layout done for the weekly challenge on UKScrapper which was to take as inspiration the expression that Magnus Magnuson made famous, 'I've started so I'll finish' I didn't want to use the normal baby colours, I have done so many with baby blue, peach, yellow etc so I took my inspiration from Rufus' pram seat
This is the Layout I have done for this weeks SLYMI challenge on UKScrappers which was to scrap a birthday, well I didn't have any photos of birthdays that I hadn't already done pages of so I thought outside the box and thought about Birth Days and what more precious thing could I scrap than my two lovely grandsons. As I was putting this together (digitally) the song on the day that you were born kept coming to mind and as I read the words I realised they fitted the design of the layout perfectly so I have used them. The only thing about this that is awkward is I DON'T KNOW WHICH ALBUM TO PUT IT IN !!!!! Daniel's or Rufus' or I suppose I could print it out twice and put a copy in each lol
I did this layout for a challenge to scrap with what was on my desk. I am such a messy scrapper and always seem to get things out and then not use them but never get around to putting them away again, so it wasn't too difficult to find enough embellishments to make this page.
The background card stock was got out for another layout but was the wrong colour but just right for this one. the circle of swirls are a mixture of some I had cut some time ago and never used and the swarf from my border punch these I keep in a bead tube on my desk. My blue button box was out and contain not only blue but also the white and wooden buttons. The sequins and beads I had got out for another project but hadn't got round to doing that one yet. The title was a mixture of letters cut on my Robo but not used because either the wrong size or I cut too many. The Swirl at the top was an experiment to see if the new Grungepaper would cut on my QuicKutz Revolution (which it didn't quite cut through and I had to finish it off with the scissors). All in all an very enjoyable layout to do.
I have done this layout for the October House Challenge on UKScrappers which was to scrap a layout of Autumn or halloween without using Orange or Purple. I have used russet red brown and green instead.
Yesterday I went for a breast screening, just a general check up as it is several years since I had the previous one and they sent me a letter. Not a particularly comfortable thing to have done but it is a good idea as early detection means less invasive surgery if anything is found. I was amused by this poem on the changing cubical wall, it made, for me, what is a rather sobering thing into something amusing. Apparently it was written by two of the staff
It doesn't seem possible that Rufus is a month old. When I said this to Gemma and Neil they said Oh yes it does, lol. Still I am not with him 24/7 as they are.
I was determined to get a photo of Rufus' tiny hand and feet especially as that is something I regret I forgot to do with Daniel when he was very small I am really pleased with these two digital layouts
Did this layout using material that I bought to make bunting for Rufus' nursery there was plenty left over and I thought it went very well with the outfit he was wearing her.
Instead of doing any housework or even taking advantage of the nice weather I have been glued to my computer producing this layout of Rufus I seem to have got back into digital scrapping and my paper and glue layouts have not hit the mark lately still as long as I can scrap one way or other I am happy.
This layout was done for the weekly challenge on UKScrappers. The challenge was to use Autumn colours, 6 of something, a Sting or Gwen Stefani song title and some sparkly bits
I had these three photos which were not particularly good quality but I wanted to scrap them because of the faces Daniel was pulling. So here is a digital page that allows the photos' defaults not to show too much
I started this digital layout just to get an idea of size and design so that I could do it with paper and things but I liked the computer produce one so much I decided to keep it as a digital one.
Today we have had an all day crop (get together to scrap) with two classes set by Total Papercraft a great day was had by all. Karen brought lots of her stock from the shop and I spent too much money as usual. Here are the two layouts from the class
It would have been John's birthday today, so to celebrate and remember I did this layout using some of the photos I have of him, the smaller one on the front and the two shown on the inside were transparencies which I had put onto a CD the quality after all these years is not good but I have been able to enhance the colour of two of them and turned the other to a black & white photo.
below is a close up of the pull out pages from the above layout
I decided that it was time for a change of colour for my hair, I have been bright ginger for some time and because it was growing out and looking dull and uninteresting this was the right time to do it. I have gone RED
I just love these photos of Daniel having so much fun in the grounds of Skipton Castle. He was running around picking up twigs and taking them back to show Helen, then poking them through the slats of the bench we were sitting on.
This layout was done for the SLYMI challenge on UK Scrappers which this week was to scrap in metal. I used thin copper sheet to punch out the border but then used the cut off strips and the little tiny bits of waste to make the seed heads
The monthly challenge on UK Scrappers for September is Music Music Music, well as most of you who know me will realise I am not musical, not into music, can't sing in tune, can't hold a note, but............... When Helen phoned me with these words "How many grandchildren do you want, Mum?" that was music to my ears indeed. I have journalled all over this LO the excitement I feel in the anticipation of three grandchildren in as many years. and at 65 that was something I never believed I would have, and now at 69 wow
I took so many photos of my new grandson on Saturday I thought I would use several on one double layout This also fits the weekly challenge on UKScrappers which was to scrap something new, use primary colours (well I used one Blue), hand journalling (just a little under two of the photos) and flowers as the challenge was set by Flower Power Blossoms. I googled for the picture of Little Roo as this is likely to be Rufus' nickname while he is small anyway
Today I have become a grandmother for the second time. My Son and his partner have just had a baby boy 2.29pm weighing in at 7lbs. He is a fortnight early and of course Neil isn't ready yet new house still needing decorating and they haven't moved yet. Still baby knows best when to arrive.
At the same time I have just done a layout of the scan of my third grandchild Helen's second baby at just 12 wks gestation. Did this for the SLYMI challenge which this week was to scrap something magical. I prefer to think of this as a miracle of new life and marvel of technology that enables us to see inside a mother-to-be's womb.
I came back home yesterday (Wednesday) so I can now do some paper and glue scrapping. This one is for the weekly challenge which was to scrap about the weather, use red and white, 9 of something (which I forgot to do), Scalloped edges and hidden element.
Two more digital layouts that I did in Skipton the first one I really love, this photo was taken in the carriage of the little steam train. I use a flash to fill out the details and it seemed to work very well
This next one was for the SLYMI challenge where we had to scrap a bank holiday, well A day with Thomas on bank holiday Saturday seemed the perfect opportunity and I used Pencil Line sketch 79 to do it.
At long last I am here in Skipton with my Daughter and family, Journey was very uneventful and straight forward for which I thank the Lord. Not too tiring either. I brought up some little cars for Daniel and all we heard for the next half hour after I gave them to him was 'new cars' said in a very excited voice. Of course I had to scrap that.
Helen and Andy are both playing games on their computers so I thought I would do another digi layout from one of the photos I took today
Well my roll was rudely interrupted by Swine Flu, this is the first day since last Wednesday week that I feel human again, still not completely better but well on the way, now need to build up my strength again, then perhaps I can go up to Skipton to see my family. In the meantime I have been scrapping today and done the weekly challenge, which was to use Love as the theme, use five of something, incorporate memories and use a technique you hadn't used for a while. I have scrapped very few of Helen and Andy's wedding photos and most of those I have scrapped I have done digitally so I am now on a quest to make an album of some of the photos with paper and elements. I thought this one very appropriate as the memory incorporated here is John, for as the journalling says:- Although your Dad couldn't lead you down the aisle his presence was there in the form of his beloved hat. I made five poppies from a spray of artificial flowers with a brad and fibre centre and used my heat gun to create to golden swirls.
Finished another page for My Little Treasures album last night, really beginning to get the hang of scrapping on such a small scale.
This one, Blue Bird, is a scraplift from a layout by Lythan Nevard in the September addition of Scrapbook Trends. I am pleased how it has turned out. I used white textured cs, K&Co Addison Stitched strips pp (all from one piece), Ribbon, bling flowers Papermania (I think) and the transparencies I made using a dingbat font.
A place for me to put the pictures of layouts I have done that I am pleased with, to put in the poems I write and to add snippets of things that have caught my eye
