Learn Something New Every Day
To day has been a great day. First class was to make these lovely flowers out of beer/coke cans. Petals were dye cut and we coloured them with alcohol inks, once the ink dried we could then stamp them with an alcohol based pad. embossing the underside to give the texture then curl the petals. These are held together with a brad and lifted up on circles of chipboard to keep the curls from getting squashed.

second class was a minibook which I have used to add lots of the photos taken on Rufus's 2nd birthday at Bristol Zoo. I'll share that another day, finally we did a sketch challenge and again I'll share this when the light is good enough to take a decent photo
It is now gone midnight so I'll sign off for now

Learn Something New Every Day
Away at a scrapbooking retreat, journey smooth, assisted boarding and alighting a good idea, porter ready as I arrived at Birmingham, took my case and led me to the taxi rank what a splendid service and all free.
Thank you Tracie for bringing your Coffee Mate, and sharing it with me.

Just a short post tonight, going to get back to scrapping with paper and glue.

Learn Something New Every Day
It is the day before a scrapbook retreat, my case is packed to capacity, I have my clothes packed in a little rucksack and the only thing to be packed is my laptop. I am ready for the off, well I will be when I have booked a taxi.
So why do I panic. I always panic. It is something I have to do. Will I never learn that it is pointless to panic. Yes I know that, and yes I have put it all in the Lord's hands and he always protects me. So this is not so much a lesson learnt but something I do that is really silly

Muffin thinks she will be coming with me but she's got another think coming. Mind you I am not looking forward to leaving them for the weekend but at least I know that Neil and Gemma will be visiting and letting them out of the room to play.
Yesterday after we had been to the vets I picked up a lot of windfall apples and today I have made some chutney I haven't done that for some time but I did enjoy the aroma wafting through the house.

Learn Something New Every Day
I have been fiddling all day creating the kit in previous post and packing last minute odds and ends of stash into every nook and cranny I can find in my case. I bet I don't use the half of it but if I don't have it with me for the weekend retreat you can bet your bottom dollar I will want it.
So I have learnt that time enjoyed playing is not time wasted. That my case can hold more than I thought just hope I can get it on the train OK

I had to take the kittens for their first inoculations today. Muffin was not at all pleased with it but Mittens didn't seem to feel it at all. They slept all afternoon but became quite lively this evening so don't think they will have any reaction. I do hope not anyway.

Freebie Kit - Jungle
I have put together another freebie kit hope that you like it - I've called it Jungle you can download it here
I used this kit on the layout I posted yesterday and one of the papers here in this double page layout done for the weekly challenge on UKScrappers
Challenge criteria
Theme Anticipation
1. A clock, or clock hands
2. An embellishment made from something that relates to the event
3. Something you don’t like very much!

The thing I struggled with most was the clock or clock hands I just couldn't see how I could make that work until I thought of the sentence 'What will you grow up like? only time can tell'
The paw prints are for the second criteria
The background paper was the altered item and I really didn't like it or know how to use it in its original state (something I had made a long time ago) but taking the colour down and giving it a strong texture made all the difference and I have added that to the Jungle kit.
I'll be back later with what I have learnt for today (probably in a fresh post)

Learn Something New Every Day
Today we have been encouraged to find out what our 'signature' is. It may be a colour, as in my case, or something more subtle.
When I was in town today, just went in to take a key up to my son's, I saw this lovely purple cardigan at the bargain price of £6.00, well, I couldn't resist.
Looking at my page for this day last year, guess what it was the new clothes I had bought and again they are PURPLE I think this confirms that my signature colour is purple.
so without further ado here is my page for today

and as a comparison here is last year's page

I've also done another page of the bundles of mischief

Digi CJ
As I've mentioned before I am taking part in a digital circle journal. I thought I had posted my own pages here but I can't find them. If I have then please forgive me for repeating, myself put it down to my age.
I have taken as my subject Nature, well I had to didn't I :D
Title page - background photo is just one of the lovely sky photos I seem to take on a regular basis

Instruction page

My own page - the lake in Queens Park in the centre of Swindon town

I am so pleased that two others have chosen Nature also and I will add the pages I do for them to my own book, well why not.
here is the one I've done for Karen of Dolly's Dreamings
A beautiful peach pink rose also taken in Queen's Park

Learn Something New Every Day
Getting ready for the retreat means I have stash all over the place, case opened drawers opened etc. the kittens have had a great time investigating all these extra places. So today's lesson is don't open drawers unless you expect to find a kitten in it.

or perhaps behind it
This morning I found the lovely paper bag I have been saving and decided to scan it into the computer. I then digi cut it into scalloped circles and had a little play around. Here is my venture into something other than normal scrapbooking, not sure that you can call it alternative art nor is it messy art, (no mess involved) but I rather enjoyed making it and it will appear on an LO at sometime.

being mounted on an envelope means I can add hidden journalling or even more photos to which ever page I choose.
today I am grateful for having such bundles of mischief to keep me entertained
also that Rudi wasn't as scared of them and walked right passed them to get to his food.

Nature's Calendar - leaves
Spring green in colour looks like new growth but this photo was taken yesterday.
I love the way the background has focused out to almost one shade of green

Learn Something New Every Day
Today has been a good day on the whole. I woke feeling yuk again but didn't actually wake till 8.00 so no nice sunrise today. I almost didn't go to church but I took myself in hand and made myself go, so glad I did felt so much better being there than it would if I had stayed at home.
We had a church picnic after the service and the rain stayed off for long enough to enjoy each others company eat and play rounders for a while (not me though). I went for a walk through the tree walk and took photos. It started to rain as I was coming back and everyone was sheltering under the tree, I got soaked but I don't mind wet weather walks.
This evening I started to sort out stash for the scrapping retreat which is next weekend. I didn't find it all that easy to know what to take and what to leave behind. I havetoo so much stash but limited space to pack any in I can only realistically take a suitcase full.

Learn Something New Every Day
Waking this morning feeling yuk as usual I happened to look outside the front of the bungalow and saw what looked like a promising sunrise, so quickly grabbing my camera and going out into the lane. I just love this time, no one around just the birds and a beautiful sky to greet me. It is better than any tonic to pick me up and set me straight for the day.

We have had a day of prayer and fasting for our prodigals today. Starting in church at 9.00 we broke for the afternoon so that people could do what they needed and a group of us decorated the church for tomorrow because it will be our harvest service.
We then met again at 5.00. It was a positive and powerful day.

Nature's Calendar - Beetle
Collecting from the hedgerows to decorate the church for harvest I collected more than I realised, this little beetle being one of the creature I brought in with me.
