Photo Scavenger hunt

I've been trying to play along with Maria "Rinda" Ontiveros photo scavenger hunt I have managed to get some of the things so thought I would put them on my blog
Here is the list
1. A picture of your entire team (or a self-portrait, if you're playing alone).
2. A museum
3. A camp fire (or fire in a fireplace)

6. A person dressed as a pirate

OK I cheated a bit, the person sketching outside their house is my middle grandson Rufus ages 22 months.
the pirate is off the TV, a children's programme Bird & 3rd and this day the toucan was dressed as a pirate.
the beehive or ant farm is in reality a woodlice nest, which Rufus uncovered today and was so fascinated with he kept taking me back to it.
finally the rooster is a clay tile that I picked up some time ago and stuck on one of my kitchen cupboards.

Good Friday this year I made a crown of thorns to put on the cross we have in church. Then for Easter Sunday I added artificial flowers to it to make a wreath (they had to last a week therefore couldn't be real ones) I still have it so in dead of night, well midnight to be exact, I took it to the end of the lane where the little post box is and fixed up and with my flash on quickly snapped it. Job done I have now got a decorated mail box (we done have individual ones in England)

Our church day out

The sun shone the sea was beautiful the sand was soft and silky underfoot. We sat and relax and enjoyed the day.
I took lots of photos of course and walked barefoot along the sea edge, water lapping over my feet, just one of those perfect days that happen now and then.

We hired a couple of beach hunts, so we had a base to come back to not one of these prettily painted ones though

This next one is my favourite photo from the day, I love the composition of it. I may well get this printed onto a small canvas and hang it on my wall.

finally I had to do my usual thing and capture myself, too many people around to set it up properly but I like it as a reminder of the day.

Danny loves to pick up sticks and brings them home with him. Sometimes they get stuck into a flower pot. This one sprouted and has produced leaves.

Back to digital pages

Well I seem to have migrated back to doing digital pages. Strange how I seems to go from one to the other ever so often. When I am doing paper scrapping I feel it is the perfect way to scrap, then my inspiration disappears and I can't do anything. I start to fiddle on the computer and find myself producing pages I am really pleased with.
Of course not being at home but 'oop north' with my daughter, I don't have access to my in real life stash so digi is the only way to go.
I did this one from photos taken last Thursday. Having fresh photos to scrap is so nice as I don't seem my daughter and family all that often.

Nature's Calendar - Scops Owl

Corio Raptor Care look after rescued birds, rehabilitating those that they can, and bringing to shows that that can't. This super little Scops Owl was imported illegally and handled too much to be released. His name is Otis and he is so cute.

Story Telling Sunday

Hi Blogging Friends its Story Telling time again. Why not pop over to Sian's blog to find all those taking part.

As is my usual way, I have delved into my past and remembered an incident from when I was very young.
I was born at the beginning of ww2 and in a time of food rationing, sugar was particularly scarce, and remained so for quite a few years after the war.
Somehow my mother had got hold of some lump sugar, not the neat little cubes we see now but big irregular shapes, it was probably preserving sugar. She hid it at the back of the sideboard in the front room, we didn't often use this room so she thought it was safe.
I must have been about 6 or 7 and my brother 3 years younger. We discovered the sugary goodness and of course had to have a bit.
I would go back at regular intervals, over several weeks, and help myself to a lump, not knowing that my brother was doing the same. I suppose we thought just one lump didn't matter, no one would miss one lump.
You can imagine what happened. Mum came to use the sugar and by that time there was a big dent in the amount.
We got such a telling off and I felt so very very guilty, I knew that what I had done was wrong and promised never never to do anything like that again.

Daniel's 4th Birthday

We have had a lovely day, weather has been perfect, Daniel was allowed to open one present, we suggested the one I have got him which is a proper camera so he was clicking away until it was time to go out to the Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Farm. They have a wonderful play area. All well made wooden climbing frames, slides, swings, etc. and a little room in which they set out the party food. Because the weather was so good we didn't need to organise any games the children were happy just to use these.

This afternoon Daniel opened up the rest of his presents. I think his favourite is a radio controlled car, bought by his other grandparents

This plant is growing in a little gap at the bottom of a wall, between the wall and the pavement. It really is amazing how resilient some plants are

Not sure exactly what this is I think it is a clover gone terribly wrong. It just reminds me of Medusa in Greek mythology whose hair was snakes.

Travelling oop north

Today has been a day of travelling. I live in the southern part of the county and my daughter and family live in the north.
Travelling by train is the best way for me to go to visit, I don't drive and a coach would take too long. I rather like travelling by train as I can get up and stretch my legs if I need to.
Today I got my laptop out as soon as I was on the main part of the journey. A 3 and a half hour time slot has to be filled somehow. I decided that time would be best filled doing a digital page for the weekly challenge on UKScrappers. You know those hours flew by and in no time at all I was in Leeds.
It's such a joy when there is no delays, and the journey goes smoothly, I feel that I spent the time wisely for once. The challenge was to use a sketch provided, have some green, pink and white somewhere on the page, stitching and rikrak Here is the result

Blogger misbehaving

I don't know what is happening to my blog today. I have been trying to schedule posts but they keep going wrong and posting for today, consequently appearing on Google reader. Sorry folks but they should appear here at the proper time now.
In the meantime, I am please to report my scrapbook class went well last night, the ladies are beginning to branch out from straight copying and using a sketch instead. Hopefully soon I will be able to scrap when they are, although, hopefully, I will be showing them a technique each time and I will still be able to supply them with basic kits if they want them as I do have rather tooooooooooooo much stash.
Next month we are going to have an all day crop on a Saturday, so I have said I will show them how to make a minibook, probably this one.

Even when walking with a friend I keep my eye open for nature's treasures.
This nest in a hole in an old tree was teeming with insect buzzing around. I couldn't get close enough to be sure if it was bees or wasps and because of the distance I had to put the lens on full zoom so the only thing that shows is the nest itself. Still worth recording I thought

A different Saturday

I have enjoyed myself today. It's not often I have a friend to go for a walk with, but today I did. We went for quite a long amble through Severn Fields, a wild flower haven, although it is a shame that my friend couldn't see the beauty of it I know that she and her dog really enjoyed the company and the chance to go further afield than usual.
I did manage to get some new shots of plants that I hadn't seen this year yet and also found a wild bees nest in a hollow tree, unfortunately I don't think the photograph shows the bees at all, I couldn't get near enough and it was too dark to capture the activity but I know it was there.
I think we must have walked round in a big loop because we ended back where we started. As I had a little bit of shopping to do we then walked along the lane to Asda, and of course a Starbucks was the order of the day. very enjoyable

This afternoon I finished a layout I have been working on for my class, I want to show the ladies that even when you don't have any information it is still good to journal what little you can glean.

7) eat slices of apple with chunks of cheese
